New Year, New Ideas, Big things to come!

HAPPY New Years Eve (or day, depending on where you are!) It's about 5:30 am here in NJ and well, I obviously cant sleep!!! I have some new ideas brewing in my head for a great, scrappy new year, (and a touch of insomnia as well!!!)

I had a fantastic scrappy year in 2016 and hoping for a bigger and better 2017!!! I am on the most AMAZING Design team, with the best scrappy sisters anywhere, For the Spiegelmom Scraps shop (www.spiegelmomscraps.com) and cant encourage you enough to check out the shop for some of the BEST mixes ever as they head into the shop this weekend (and use LISA15 for 15% off all these new beauties!)  I have scrapped more pages this year than ever before and am really falling in love with the scrappy groove I am in using all of Jody's amazing products in the store!

I also have made a true friend in one of the greatest people ever, my partner in crime for Get Pin-spired over on our YouTube channels (www.youtube.com/pinkglitterscrapper) Heather! I enjoy every week collaborating with her, throwing ideas off of each other and just seeing where our scrappy passion takes us! It's been a great start and hopefully a long and fun partnership!

I cant wait to see all the amazing inspiration and new lines to come this year. And, like I said in the beginning, I have an idea for ANOTHER YouTube series for my channel kicking around. It would be (here's your hints) *Fun*  *Random*  *Different* *HELPFUL* and 2 times a month. I am looking for a few people who would like to Guest design with me for 1 of the 2 episodes each month  during the year!!!!!! If your intrigued or interested, let me know in the comments here or find me on Facebook (Lisa Kingston)

I hope Everybody have an amazing New Years Weekend, STAY SAFE and Stay Scrappy!!!

SpiegelMom Scraps Sparklers Unite Blog Hop ~ December 2016

Happy December everyone ( I know, hard to believe!!!) and welcome to the December Sparklers Unite Blog hop for SpiegelMom Scraps!!!! I am so excited you have joined us to hop along and see some great projects and maybe get some inspiration for your next project, maybe with some SpiegelMom Scraps Sequins?

You should have arrived from the blog of the amazing and talented Jody! If this is your first stop, you can find the entire lineup for todays hop over on the SpiegelMom Scraps Blog. You will have 5 days to hop along and comment on each of the posts to be in the running for a $10.00 credit to the Shop! Winner will be announced on Dec. 6th

For todays layout, I went a little different (for me) and started with a piece of ice blue cardstock, instead of my usual white. I smudged some white gesso in the center, do add some mixed media without warping my paper. I used the Smooshing technique, aka as the packaging technique, to add some Heidi Ho Blue Coloringz and Cold as Ice Vibez over the gesso. I did let some of the gesso peak out to mimic snow.

I added a paper strip to the lower half of my layout from the new Simple Stories Winter Wonderland collection and added some of the light pink and teal sequins from the all new "Build a Snowman" sequin mix. This is an amazing mix, the colors are SO fun!!!

We have 2 new cut files this month also, and I used the Flakey background to cut some snowflakes,  I added them just above the title strip at the bottom and added some more sequins to the centers and a tiny word sticker from Tim Holtz to the center one.

I used the negative piece of my die cut to back my photo, after mounting the photo on a piece of brown cardstock to help it stand out. I adhered the whole photo cluster over the now dry shimmerz/gesso area. I popped some of the cut sequins up on foam tape and pieced them back into the cut file. I sprinkled some more of the Build a Snowman around, added a doodle boarder and then I inked the edges with Frayed Burlap distress ink.

I hope you enjoyed my layout today, and will use LISA15 for 15% off some of the amazing new sequin mixes.

Now, Hop on over to Christy's wonderful blog to see the amazing project she has in store for you!

My Layout for today is a really fun project and the way it came out made me so happy! I will show you today how a sequin mix intended for one theme or holiday can be used for more that just that!

My layout started with a piece of  white American Crafts textured cardstock. I splattered Hot Fudge VibezHeidi Ho Blue Coloringz and Gold Heidi Swapp color shine on the cardstock and then trimmed 1/2" off of each side and mounted it on a piece of garnet cardstock

I was so excited to really dig into my autumn/fall stash and pulled out my Pumpkin Spice collection from Simple Stories a few years back. I matted my photo on a piece of vellum, and then used various pattered papers to make a large photo mat. I adhered the photo and mats to the upper right side of the splattered cardstock.

After I mounted the photo, some of the same papers I used as mats were cut into strips and mounted on the left edge of the white cardstock. The bits and pieces pack still had some great pieces left and I added foam tape to the back of a few and added them to the photo area and the sign piece at the bottom of the paper strips.

My title was from the letter sticker sheet and it fit exactly the way I wanted it to!!!I added some more icon pieces to the area to bring some interest to the area. Then I found the cute banner was still left and I connected the paper strips and the photo with it, LOVING the way it made them feel connected and pulled everything together.

Then, I was able to get to my sequins! I was very excited to use the new Holly Berries sequins, a Christmas mix, on my fall layout! The reds and greens are just so different and played so nice with the colors in my papers. I also mixed in some of the Autumn Joy sequin mix, the chocolate and caramel ones were a great compliment to the colors of the new sequins as well as the paper.

A few finishing touches, such a a tab on the photo mats, as well as some Tim Holtz tiny word stickers, Occasions set, and my Spectrum Noir sparkle pen on some of the pieces finished this page off and I am in LOVE with the results.

I hope you enjoyed my layout today, and hope you will look at a certain theme product and try to think outside the box.

SpiegelMom Scraps Sparklers DT Monthly Blog Hop!!!

Hello everybody and welcome the monthly SpiegelMom Scraps Design Team Blog Hop! We are so excited that you are here with us today! You should have arrived here from the Amazingly talented Jody's blog. The entire blog hop line up can be found HERE, should you get lost along the way!

October 1st is World Cardmaking Day, so we chose to celebrate by making cards for this months hop!

I am NOT a cardmaker, I LOVE watching card process videos and I admire beautiful cards, I just never though mine turned out well. I was nervous for this challenge! But it was fun in the end and will be making more cards in the future when I need them.

For the hop today, I actually made 3 cards! I had so much fun, I just kept going. They are fairly simple in design, but I really wanted the sequins to be the star of the show!

For my first card, I chose to spotlight the Let's Be Mermaids Sequin Mix. The colors in this mix are so fun and bright and I just love them!! I started by making a row of sequins, one of each from the mix. I then continued the rows, staggering the starting point of each row. I worked on this on a separate piece of cardstock and adhered the panel to my card base then they were dry. I thing doing this gave a nice bit of dimension. I punched 3 pink hearts from some matching cardstock, added 2 gold stars from the Gold Sweetheart Confetti pack and added a sweet sentiment from the Tim Holtz small talk sticker pack.

The next card I created, I began by adhering my sequins to a piece of vellum and then to a grey cardstock base to make the colors pop! This card features the beautiful Magical Ocean Sequins and I had fun using all the sequins in this mix as part of the design. In a 2x2 square, I lined up the pinks and blues from this pack, switching the beginning color of each new row. In the last row, I ended with a large silver star from the pack. I went back and added the tiny silver stars between the rows. So sparkly and pretty! I used my ATG to place a 1 1/4" wide pink strip across the center of the card and placed the sequin panel in the middle. I embossed my sentiment in the bottom right corner. I love how the sequins just stand out on this one!!

My last card was a lot of fun and has a lot of sparkle!!! A few strips of gold glitter washi tape were glued down to a blank card base. I spread Scotch Quick Dry adhesive over the glitter tape (it dries clear!) and sprinkled the Aqua Marine Dream sequins over the wet glue. I used a piece of scrap paper to press the sequins into the glue. When it was dry, I brushed the loose sequins off and started on the rest of the card.I cut 2 white panel strips, one thick and one thin and used foam tape to adhered them to front, allowing them to create a channel where the sequins could show through. I embossed my sentiment on a grey square, which I adhered to a white doily and placed on the front of the card, in the middle. I scattered some of the vellum and sequin stars in the corners. SO fun and what an impact the sequins make!!!

I hope you all enjoy my first time at card making! With the beautiful SpiegelMom Scraps sequin mix's as inspiration, it was so simple once I found ways to really let them shine! Be sure to head over to the Shop and pick some of the gorgeous mix's up and be inspired by there beauty!  Be sure to use LISA15 for 15% off all your SpiegelMom Scraps purchases!

Sequin Saturday- Day 2 of our Triple Blog Hop!

Hey Everyone, Welcome to the Labor Day Triple Blog hop!! I hope you are enjoying all the projects so far, and have you seen the Guests for this hop?!? Oh my gosh! You should have arrived here from
Laura's amazing blog post. Her projects are always so inspiring!!!

I drew my inspiration for todays layout straight from the photo and just new I wanted to spotlight the Pinky Pie Pinks sequin mix. It's a beautiful mix of  Light Pink and Iridescent cup sequins, small flowers and silver star dust. It was PERFECT for this layout!

I started with a piece of  American Crafts white textured cardstock and used a Heidi Swapp Rose stencil with some modeling paste to make a floral edge.  I used Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick distress inks to mist and watercolor the flowers. I also used Shabby Shutters for the leaf details. I love the way Spun Sugar and Shabby Shutters looks together!!!

Next, I layered my photo on some light pink tissue paper and a piece of gold foiled polka dot pattered paper. I adhered a piece of ombre pink heart paper to the page, layered some gold foiled rose washi with some solid pink and a skinny gold pattered washi. I used a white doily misted with some gold Heidi Swapp color shine for some texture in the washi cluster.

Then, I adhered my photo layers with some foam tape and added the banner, also on some foam tape.

I then got to use the beautiful sequins and sprinkled them all over the lower left portion of the page and also added a cluster of sequins to the centers of each of the roses on the right side to bring some sparkle to the entire layout.

After the sequins were all adhered, I brought the washi tapes up to the top left corner to balance everything out. I added a tiny word sticker from Crate Paper Craft Market ( sweet little one) and a small heart banner from the Hot Pink Heart Felties pack. I misted the felt hearts with some Gold color shine to tone down the brightness of the beautiful felt. A tiny twine bow die cut from Waffle Flower is holding the banner on!

I sprinkled a few more sequins around the page and was done. This layout turned out better than I had originally planned it in my head. I hope you enjoyed my layout!!

Sparklers Squads Unite Blog Hop

Hello Everybody and welcome to my Blog for the September Sparkler Squads Unite Blog Hop!!!
You should have arrived here from the amazing Jody,, whose sunny and fun layout is hard follow!

Today I am spotlighting the new Mocha Mint Dream sequin mix. It's a beautiful, warm mix of chocolate, mints, tans and light pink. It's so versatile and fun and I have more ideas for this mix in the future!!!

To begin this layout, I used a autumn wreath cut file and used the inside of the acorn cuts to apply some gold texture paste and then sprinkled them with the Mocha sequin mix while it was still wet.

While I let them dry, I moved onto the cut file and decided to use Distress ink to do some watercoloring. I used Spiced Marmalade and Carved Pumpkin, Walnut Stain, Pumice Stone, Frayed Burlap, Fired Brick,Seedless Preserves, Mustard Seed, Shabby Shutters and Crushed Olive

When everything was dry, I placed the cut file on a piece of kraft cardstock splattered with some gold Color Shine.  I popped the sequin acorn pieces up on some foam tape and placed the back in the wreath. I then added my photo to the center, also on foam tape. I placed my title in the bottom right corner and coated it in Spectrum Noir Clear Shimmer pen and outlined it in my Gold Signo pen. I added some journaling to the bottom left, outlined the edge of the layout and added some more of the beautiful sequins around the page!

What scrapping has taught me.

This is something I have begun to embrace, more so than ever before. I am blessed and SO happy to be a part of the SpiegelMom Scraps design team, I have a great new YouTube series going with a wonderful friend, Heather. I'm scrapping with purpose and with a deadline now and I think the structure and time limit is more of a motivator than a deterant. I'm enjoying it A LOT more too. I'm pushed creatively, I'm blessed with great new products and I have amazing people around me to encourage, teach and inspire me. I'm Scrapping happy and it shows. I have never enjoyed it more than I am now.
People say doing it like work will kill the fun and make it less enjoyable, but I am finding the opposite to be true for me.
I'm also about to send my youngest, My sweet, tiny 3yr. old, to pre-k. I'm holding onto memories better. I used to have a problem with this. I struggled to recall even a few days ago. Now, every second, every smile matters and seems to stick.
Scrapping for me is so much more than just sticking down pretty paper with some glue and putting my picture down. It's personal. It's giving my voice to my girls when I no longer have one. It's my story, my love, my feeling and my gift to those after me.
I find great people while on this journey as well. I have made many great friends, been blessed with amazing kindness and learned how to find myself and style in my creative world that this entire community has helped with. I love that. I love being apart of a, really, way of life that is filled with memories and joy.
So, find time. Make time. Everyday. Take a few minutes to yourself to make ANYTHING. A layout, an embellishment, a pocket page or card. Something to make you happy and know that you matter, your story matters. Tell it.
